INDO-NEPAL SAMAJ, a Mumbai based social organization aims to work towards the betterment of Nepalese in India. It advocates friendship based on mutual respect and co-operation between India and Nepal.
In 2008 INS constituted the Indo-Nepali Garima Puruskar(Awards) to honor achievers of Nepalese origin from India and Nepal. This was done to showcase role models to the young generation and at the same time felicitate the heroes. Padma Shree and Indian football captain Baichung Bhutia, celebrated artist Laxman Shrestha, ace Bollywood photographer Rakesh Shrestha and political activist and Deuda Samrat of Jhyamma Jhyamma fame, Nandakrishna Joshi were the recipients in the inaugural year.
INS would be shortly announcing the date and the recipients of the awards for 2009.
